An All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker in Nasarawa State has confronted management and staff of Umaisha General Hospital, demanding a full account of fans and mattresses he said he personally bought and donated to the facility.
During the visit, the lawmaker asked hospital officials to explain what had become of more than 50 ceiling fans, roughly 40 standing fans, and 50 orthopaedic mattresses he said were funded from his own pocket and meant to improve conditions for patients and healthcare workers at the hospital.

A video of the confrontation, shared on X by the account MaziTundeEdnutfan, showed the lawmaker visibly agitated as he pressed staff for answers.
Mattresses given to patients, staff says
One hospital staff member visible in the clip attempted to provide an explanation, saying some of the mattresses had been handed to recently discharged patients to use at home temporarily, with the expectation that they would be returned after two months. When the lawmaker asked how many mattresses had left the hospital this way, the staff member put the figure at about seven.
The response did not appear to settle the lawmaker’s concerns. He continued to press staff on the whereabouts of the remaining items, pointing out that the donations had been made with the welfare of the community in mind. He said he had previously directed the hospital management to return the mattresses to a specific location after being told the items were still in storage.
Lawmaker offers to buy more, demands accountability
Despite his frustration, the lawmaker told hospital workers that any staff member who genuinely needed a mattress could approach him directly, adding that he had the means to purchase additional ones. He repeated the offer more than once during the confrontation, while making it clear that it did not resolve his main concern about the unaccounted-for items.
He questioned whether the manner in which the donated equipment had been handled was fair, both to him and to the constituents on whose behalf the purchases were made. He also expressed dissatisfaction with what he described as the hospital’s failure to properly account for his contributions to the facility.
