LIB reported that the incident occurred in Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters on Saturday, January 17, 2025.
The victims, Fatima Abubakar, 35, and her children, Maimuna, 17, Aisha, 16, Bashir, 13, Abubakar, 10, Faruk, 7, and Abdulsalam, barely one and half years old, were attacked with dangerous weapons after the assailants broke into their home.
The Kano State Police Command arrested three principal suspects, including a family member for the gruesome m8rder.
Governor Yusuf, in a statement issued by his media adviser, Ibrahim Adam, prayed to God to bless the new marriage and reward the couple.
“Haruna Bashir suffered an unimaginable tragedy when his wife and six children were brutally m8rdered, leaving him to face a pain that no husband or father should ever have to endure,” the statement read.
“At a time when his world was shattered, His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, stood by him with compassion and practical support.
“The Governor facilitated Malam Haruna’s journey to Umrah and Hajj, where he had the opportunity to pray for his late wife and six children, seek Allah’s mercy for them, and find strength and comfort in the Holy Land.
“But the support did not end there.Today, Malam Haruna Bashir has been given the opportunity to start a new chapter of his life.
“He has been married again, with the support of the Governor, and His Excellency has also gifted him a house at Amana City to provide him with a secure and dignified home.
“For Malam Haruna, this is more than a house. It is a symbol of hope after tragedy, dignity after devastation, and a new beginning after unimaginable loss.
“Governor Abba K. Yusuf’s intervention demonstrates that leadership is not only about building roads, schools and hospitals.
“It is also about standing with people when life breaks them, helping them heal, and giving them the opportunity to rebuild.
“May Allah grant eternal Jannatul Firdaus to Malam Haruna’s late wife and six children, accept his prayers for them, bless his new marriage and reward Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf abundantly for standing by him during one of the darkest moments of his life.”
