Victor Osimhen delivered a standout display for Galatasaray on Saturday, scoring twice as the Turkish Super League champions thrashed newly-promoted Erzurumspor 4-0 away from home in their second league game of the season.

The victory was a strong response from the Turkish Super League champions, who had been held to a 2-2 home draw by Corum FK on matchday one.

Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk was full of praise for his squad after the final whistle, saying the performance showed clear progress from their previous outing.

“Of course, it was a really great football atmosphere. There was a great pitch,” he said via GS TV.

“We had great possession in the first half. We did that even more in the second half. We protected the game, we protected the score, we tried to increase the lead. Not conceding a goal is good, scoring four goals is good. I want to congratulate my players.”

The win lifted Galatasaray to four points in the early standings. The club’s attention now turns to a home fixture against Goztepe next week, as they look to carry their winning form into the coming weeks of the season.
