The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced Ahmed Galadima as the winner of its governorship primary elections in Adamawa state, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a trending video, Galadima reportedly polled 414,444 votes, while his closest rival, Abdulrazak Namdas, garnered 86,004 votes, and Abdulrahman Haske came third with 65,934 votes.

Adamawa is one of the states where the ruling party suspended the voting processes on Thursday, May 21, and continued on Friday, May 22.
Recall that the present governor of Adamawa, Ahmadu Fintiri, dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the APC and is expected to have influence on his successor in the party. He had earlier won the party’s senatorial ticket for Adamawa North on Wednesday, May 20.
However, the video of the announcement of the governorship primary election results in the northeast state has started generating reactions from Nigerians. Below are some of their comments:
Ogie claimed that the candidate is not supported by the governor:
“So it’s Ribadu’s candidate who finally won and not the govs candidate? Omo na wa o!! And I hear he’s not even getting the senate seat again, sef! So why did he even bother to decamp to the APC when he was not even given all he asked for? What a waste of decampment! Smh.”
One Voice questioned the figure of the post in the party:
“APC had 398k voters in the general election in 2023. Now, in their 2026 primary election, they have 566k votes altogether. How? Do these people think we are stupid? It’s so unfortunate how APC has planned to rig the 2027 elections. These people must be thinking that we are stupid.”
Sadeeq praised Galadima for the turnout:
“Massive numbers, Ahmed Galadima just turned the APC primary into a statement. From PTDF to Governorship candidate with over 414k votes? Adamawa politics just got very interesting.”
Wale Ibrahim commended the direct primary exercise:
“Honestly, this direct primary is far better than the delegate type of primaries. It’s highly impossible to pack 400k+ in a hotel, say these are your delegates. The fact that the election is happening at the ward level makes it more credible.”
Shamsuddeen said that the results reflected the will of the party leaders:
“That’s going according to the plan of the party elders in Adamawa. Galadima will be the next governor of Adamawa. The other contestants should come together as one and achieve that one goal for Galadima to become the next governor of the state.”
