Senator Solomon Adeola, who represents Ogun West in the National Assembly, has broken his silence on the passing of Nollywood veteran Taiwo Hassan, widely known as Ogogo, saying every possible effort was made to keep the actor alive.
Adeola, commonly called Yayi, made the remarks in a condolence statement released following Ogogo’s death on Sunday. The actor, aged 66, had been battling stage-four cancer before he passed away and was laid to rest on Monday.
Adeola speaks on Ogogo’s death
The senator said the loss was especially painful given how long the actor had been ill and the collective effort that went into supporting his medical care. He described the late actor as far more than a respected figure in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

“We share in their grief over this sad and irreplaceable loss,” Adeola said in his statement.
Adeola called Ogogo a dear brother and a proud son of Ilaro in Ogun State, noting that his career brought happiness to several generations of Nigerians and played a meaningful role in the growth of the Nigerian film industry.
Senator extends condolences to family
Adeola offered his condolences to Ogogo’s wife, children, and the entire Hassan family. He also expressed sympathy to the people of Yewaland and Ogun State at large, as well as the actor’s colleagues and associates across the entertainment industry.
The senator acknowledged all those whose lives the late actor had touched through his work on screen over the years.
He prayed for Allah’s forgiveness and mercy for Ogogo and asked God to grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus. He also prayed for strength and fortitude for the family and others mourning his passing.
